LATE MR. JOHN GOODING
A LEADING AGRICULTURIST By the death of Mr. John Gooding on Friday. July 21st, the village has lost one of its leading agriculturists. He had been a resident for about thirty years, the last seven being spent at Roundchimneys Farm. Athough Mr. Gooding had been in failing health for several years, the end came rather suddenly. He was 63 years of age. There was a large gathering at the funeral on the following Tuesday. at St. Mary's Church. The Rector (Rev. T. H. Mousley) conducted the service. The hymns sung were " Through the night of doubt and sorrow," "For ever with the Lord," and "Abide with me.- The 23rd Psalm was chanted. Miss Harter was at the organ. The family mourners were:—Mrs. Gooding (widow), Mr. W. Gooding (son). Mrs. Record (sister), Miss Daisy Record and Messrs. Jack and Philip Record (niece and nephews). Mrs. Marshall (sister-in-law).
