    • Recorded as a Mariner on his marriage in 1876, living at 35 Haigh Street, Everton.

      In the 1881 census, he is in the Royal Infirmary, Brownlow Street, Liverpool as a patient. He is described as a mariner aged 26, married, and born in Castletown, IOM. His wife Maria does not appear on the census.

      The BMD record shows his death as in Sep Q 1883 Liverpool 8b 128.

      James married Maria Vernick (or Verwick, Herwick or Herrick) on 13 Nov 1876 in St Francis Xavier Church West Derby & Toxteth Park Liverpool. Maria was born 1856/1857.

      Her father was deceased at the time of their wedding

      Her mother may have become the second wife of Edward Taubman (James's father) although the names are somewhat different on the marriage certificates

      James died in 1883 and according to free BMD Maria married in June q 1884 in Liverpool 8b 321 [1]
